We are Frederike Kijftenbelt, Maartje van Ringen and Simone Wenth, three female photographers whose work is grounded in a shared perspective on the disrupted relationship between humans and their environment.
Each of us approaches this from a distinct perspective. Frederike examines humanity’s attempt to control nature, Maartje explores ethical aspects of human-animal relationships, while Simone investigates how borders and power structures shape landscapes and lives.
These perspectives come together in Broken Paths, our long-term collaborative project. Drawing on our different backgrounds and disciplines, we challenge and complement one another, continuously refining and pushing each other’s work.
